The Filipino Customs Broker

History of Profession 

 

Filipino Customs Brokers were recognized as professionals by the government with the passage of Republic Act No. 1937 otherwise known as the Tariff and Customs Code of the Philippines of 1957.  A professional in the context of Philippine laws is a person who has passed a licensure examination conducted by the Philippine Regulation Commission for a profession as for example a licensure examinations for medical doctors or licensure examinations for certified public accountants.   This makes the Filipino Customs Brokers unique in the sense that in other countries examinations to become customs brokers are conducted by their equivalent of the Bureau of Customs or by District Collection.

CCBI Training Institute

Objectives

The CCBI Training Institute operates under the guidance of the Vice President for Professional Development through the Continuing Professional Education Committee.

As provided for in Article X(C) of CCBI By-Laws the Committee shall formulate, promote or sponsor group studies, seminars, teach-ins and programs designed to afford members of the CCBI suitable opportunities for acquiring professional knowledge, training and skill in the country or abroad.
